This warranty also excludes normal cosmetic deterioration caused by environmental conditions.
This warranty will be void if the serial number on the product has been removed, tampered with or defaced. This warranty is in lieu of all other expressed warranties. In no event will Totem Acoustic be liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use the product, even if Totem Acoustic has been advised of the possibility of such damages, or for any claim by any other party. Some U.S. states and Canadian provinces or territories do not allow the exclusion or limitation of consequential damages, so the above limitation and exclusion may not apply. All implied warranties on the product are limited to the duration of this expressed warranty. Some U.S. states and Canadian provinces or territories do not allow any limitations on the length of an implied Warranty. If the original retail purchaser resides in such a state, province or territory, this limitation does not apply.
Warning
Important technical note
Please read before operating speakers. The warranty on speakers is void if the voice coils are burned or damaged as a result of overpowering or clipping.
Overpowering
The volume control of most amplifiers and receivers is a logarithmic type, which means that full-rated power may be reached with the volume control at as little as the halfway point. In addition, operating the loudness feature or boosting the treble or bass controls increases power output well beyond rated levels. Due to these factors, a 30-watt amplifier can produce distorted output levels of over 100 watts and may damage your loudspeakers.
Clipping
Clipping refers to the power level at which an amplifier begins to distort a waveform by flattening its top and bottom into a square wave-shape. When fed to tweeters and/or midrange speakers, this may result in exceeding their maximum power handling capacity, causing damage to the speaker voice coil. Clipping can be identified by fuzz or distorted sound. If this is heard, lower the volume immediately to prevent any damage to your system. Continuous clipping will damage or burn out the speakers.

Speaker Know-how
What is so special about the KIN Series?
Feeling the sound. That’s what the KIN Series is all about. Some speakers tend to beam their music out — not the KIN Series. These speakers deliver an enormous soundstage with vibrancy. The result is a more immersive musical experience. The KIN Series performs remarkably well, whatever the room size or placement. They’re perfect for a small room or a desktop audio setup and are the ideal sound bar replacement for a tremendous home theatre experience.
What would be the best electronics to match with my KIN speakers?
All KIN series speakers are very easy to drive so they match effortlessly with virtually any electronics. The KIN Amp was designed in tandem with many KIN speakers so it ensures a harmonious and synergistic pairing.
Which subwoofer should I use with my KIN Series speakers?
If you like to extend to the bass or want to set up a 2.1 or home theatre surround, the best subwoofer to match the KIN Series is the KIN Sub. The KIN Sub perfectly matches the active and passive speakers in the KIN Series. Very dynamic at lower frequency ranges and nearly perfect in the middle range with finely worked out mids and accurate detailed high frequencies make the Totem Acoustic KIN Sub stand out.
Which would be the best surround setup with my KIN speakers?
For a great surround environment, the KIN Monitors should be matched with the KIN Mini Flex as center and surrounds and KIN Sub. Another sensational choice is three KIN Mini Flex as the front channels.
Can I mount the KIN Monitor on the wall?
While there is no specific bracket designed for most KIN Series speakers, they can be mounted on the wall and maintain their peak performance. KIN Mini Flex includes its own wall bracket.
How much amplifier power do I need with my KIN Monitor speakers?
The recommended power for the KIN Monitor is 20 watt to 100 watt with a maximum sound pressure of 105 dB before dynamic compression.
These are just general guidelines. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule where lower wattage units can be used successfully. Trial and experimentation are the key to finding correct combinations. The greater the amplifier power, the safer the loudness potential. A 50-watt/channel amplifier, if driven above this 50-watt/channel limit, will naturally produce multiplicatively more distortion than at 50 watts. A 100-watt/channel amplifier will have substantial distortion above 100 watts, but will not allow any significant distortion below 80 watts. To conclude, more amplifier power provides cleaner power and less chance of damage. The most common source of speaker damage is amplifier distortion. Your amplifier may run out of clean power at loud listening levels. A direct consequence of this overuse is distorted power, which would produce greater distortion than its rated output power. This could cause damage to any loudspeaker.
The KIN Amp is a fantastic option ot drive any and all KIN Series speakers.
What is the ideal in-room placement for my KIN Series speakers?
The KIN Series speakers can be placed anywhere — they perform fantastically well, whatever the room size or placement. They’re perfect for a small room or a desktop audio setup. They can be discreetly integrated into any living space, even in hidden spaces, maintaining its impeccable audiophile virtues.
The front of the KIN Flex and Sub is designed to be slightly inclined towards the rear, ensuring that novices and aficionados alike end up with just-the-right soundstage, especially when these little speakers are placed on a sideboard, or even a low board. Inherently, these surprising speakers develop their immense sound capacity in a compact-sized room, quite often the case for most living spaces.
For the KIN Monitor speaker, the ideal placement distance from a rear wall is between 6” and 2’ (15 cm to 61 cm) and the distance between each one should be from 3’ to 12’ (91 to 365 cm). No matter where you choose to place these speakers, they will add tremendous impact, depth and realism to your music.
Should I use grills on my KIN Series speakers?
The KIN Series speakers come with matching magnetic grills. Even though we do not recommend the use of grills if maximum performance is ultimately what you want, you can use them for aesthetic or safety reasons.
What is the specificity of the included feet?
Each KIN Series speaker comes with four adhesive backed isolation feet to optimize performance.
What is the break-in time?
To get used to playing music and reach optimal performance, speakers require a minimum of 50-100 hours in actual music playing time as a break-in period. This is also called the “burning-in period” and is a crucial step. During this time, it’s a good idea to constantly play music with a wide frequency range, but you should refrain from playing at very loud levels. Break-in time allows the flexible parts of the loudspeaker to actually become as flexible as they should be, so do not skip this period and do not make up your mind about the sound of these loudspeakers before this period comes to an end. You will definitely notice a gradual improvement in the cohesiveness of the music reproduction. A loudspeaker’s performance becomes optimal and stable only due to this break-in process.
Volume
Volume controls on the amplifier/receiver/preamplifier are very misleading. Please note that the volume control does not address power-output, but simply adjusts the audible level of music. The type of music you play has an incidence on the amount of power used at a given volume level. Less dynamic music utilizes lesser amplifier power than more dynamic music does. With most music, the amplifier reaches its maximum power between the 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock position on the volume dial.
Distortion is inevitable when the amplifier is pushed above its rated output level, which may result in speaker damage. This occurs with any type of speaker. This type of damage constitutes abuse and may not be covered by warranty. Be alert to the instant distortion starts, turning the volume control down to prevent speaker and/or amplifier damage.
Limits
Be wary of providing more power than is appropriate for your speakers and damaging them. Although a more powerful amplifier may provide better sound, it is very important to keep speakers within their power-range rating to prevent damage.
